Question. If you could choose to live forever, would you take it? If I could guarantee eternal youth to you, would you take it? If I told you, that right now, all you have to do is take one pill, that doesn’t cost you anything, and it has been proven many many times, passed all the clinical trials, there is no side-effects, and you would never die, would you take it? My life basically consists of two incessant stages, one: when I’m so busy and drowning in all the papers that need to be completed and all the books that need to be read, and then there is two: when I’m absolutely so bored out of my mind that I’m searching “funny cat videos” on youtube and that’s when you know I’ve actually gone insane. Therefore, there is a point in my life where I think, “Heck yeah! I would want to live forever, because then I would have so much more time to do all this work.”. And then I reach the other point in my life where I think, “Hell no! I’m so bored I don’t need anymore time for anymore boredom.” Let’s pretend that our world has an infinite number of resources, that overpopulation will never be a problem, that the issue of pollution has been solved, our economy is great, would you want to live in a world where not only you live forever and have eternal youth, but everyone else in the world does? Essentially, your mother and father would never die. Your friends would never die. Your pets would never die. You will forever be surrounded by all the people you love for the rest of your life. Sounds pretty fantabulous doesn’t it? Consider this, if we (literally) had all the time in the world (which is a metaphor), it means that we would have more free time, more time to go out and do anything you want, go bungee jumping, paragliding, travel around the world. We would have more time to learn about the things we love, more time to read all the books in the world, discover the unknown, win a Nobel prize, actually meet your great grandchildren, and your great great great great grandchildren, create a limitless number of memories. Imagine, how many things you could accomplish, how much knowledge would you gain, if you did live forever. So, what’s all that worry about? Shouldn’t it be something everyone wants? Why the hesitation? Are you scared of witnessing all the crimes in the world, day after day? Are you scared of the fact that all the cruelest people in the world would never die? Are you scared that you’ll never find a job for the rest of your life? Are you scared of being caught in huge debt for the rest of your life? Are you scared of having a terminal disease to which you would be stuck with dealing for the rest of your life? Are you scared of living life in a vegetable state? What are you scared of?
Question. If you could live forever, would you want too? Remember, it’s your choice. But it would, determine the rest of your life. Literally.
